On the Way to the Track, Stop for a Tröegs

About 25 minutes south east of the legendary oval at Penn National Race Course, we found a beer lover's dream date. It's the Tröegs Brewery right here in downtown Harrisburg, and it makes a perfect stop before or after watching the horses tear up the track in Central PA.

Yes, we took the free tour. Yes, we had the tasty free samples. Yes, we were in absolute beer heaven. Brothers John and Chris Trogner sold the first keg of their craft brew in 1997. Since then they've cranked out dozens of different kinds of beer, ale, porter, what have you.

Horses love hay. Brewers love hops. These guys know what they're doing. So think about a little roadtrip from the grandstands in Grantville to the beer cellars at Tröegs.
